Claudia Rhoades : German-American Artist
BIOGRAPHY
Claudia Willeke Rhoades,
born to a German Diplomat in 1964 in Port Au Prince, Haiti, lived much
of her childhood in East Africa in addition to living in other countries
including Germany, Czechoslovakia and Egypt before moving Manhattan, NY
in 1980. Having the experience of living in multiple countries provides
Claudia with an inspiring backdrop rich cultures, colors, daily
lifestyles and even political outlooks which she incorporates into her
art. She has a tremendous respect for nature and people across the world and hopes her art will remind the viewer of this beauty and wonder.
Working in mixed media, she weaves a language of emotions through her
work to be interpreted by the viewer. The great depth and dimension in
her work is created with oil, acrylic, enamel, fibers and objects found
in nature combined with vigorous brush strokes and her hands directly.
Claudia brings to life a language of emotions through her work to be
interpreted by the viewer. While living in Manhattan and working at
Mondi International in Trump Tower, Claudia organized and choreographed
four major fashion shows for the exclusive Mondi brand, famous in part
due to loyal customer Princess Diana. Her shows at The Limelight and
Regines, attracted execs from major fashion magazines, actors and
musicians including David Lee Roth.
After focusing much of her time on raising her two children while
working full time as a single mother, Claudia is now creating art again
with even more enthusiasm and vigor than ever before.
